Pancake Recipe
Serves 2-4 people
INGREDIENTS
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
1 large egg
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
A pinch of salt
Butter for frying
(The size of the cup does not matter as long as you use the same cup to measure the flour and milk.)
DIRECTIONS
- Sift flour, sugar, salt and baking powder in a large bowl.
- Whisk egg, milk and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture.
- Mix until combined.
- Heat a pan and add some butter.
- When the pan is hot enough, pour a small amount of batter into the pan.
- When bubbles appear on the surface and begin to break, turn over and cook the other side for 1-2 minutes.
- Serve immediately with butter, honey or maple syrup and some berries.

Ingredients – food that is used with other foods to prepare a particular dish
To sift – to put dry ingredients like flour through a sieve in order to remove large lumps.
To mix: To stir foods together until they are combined.
To whisk – to beat (mix repeatedly) eggs etc. with a special tool to add more air and make the food light.
Batter – a mixture of flour, eggs and milk.
